The Swiss chocolate manufacturer Felchlin has been experimenting for several years to develop a tasty vegan milk chocolate for vegans as well. This has now resulted in this vegan milk chocolate with a cocoa percentage of 44%.
Normally, milk chocolate contains milk powders, making it unsuitable for a vegan diet. This vegan milk chocolate contains no dairy products. Therefore, cocoa butter is an important ingredient. The cocoa butter in this vegan milk chocolate comes from organically certified cocoa beans from the Dominican Republic and gives a creamy flavor. Cocoa butter may catch you off guard for a moment, but cocoa butter is entirely vegetable.
In fact, cocoa butter is made from roasted cocoa beans and is ground until a fatty substance is produced. That substance is put through a press, creating a buttery texture. Hence the name cocoa butter.
